Indivisible: Kristine Hatanaka's high school art class

Hold on to your hats because I just received a gorgeous new crop of works from Kristine Hatanaka's class from Culver City High School Academy of Visual and Performing Arts and I am so excited to share them with you!

Below is number 95, a beautiful and moving work created by high school art student Lucia:

 Paint, marker, colored pencil and collage on paper.

Her work literally says it all in regard to how we should treat one another:

"HOPE starts with caring for each other,"  and "Humanity is how we act as a collective group."

And perfect for International Women's Day as well!

Indivisible: Alex Gano

I am so very happy to present square number 94, created by Los Angeles-based friend and artist Alex Gano:

Spandex, paint, sewn fabric over board, 2017.

In his past work, Alex's art contained wood and steel elements that he physically labored over, grinding, cutting and polishing these components until they were ready to be assembled.  Recently, Alex started a new series of sculptures that involve sewing. 

As you can see above, the materials he uses have some resemblance to metal (one of his previous materials) but instead are crafted from fabric and paint. The green pieces in the center of the work appear to be plant growth moving out of the geometric shapes.  I am excited to see Alex's new work develop as he continues his exploration into sewing.

Indivisible Project at LA Makers Pop-Up at LACE!

So very excited and proud to announce that the Indivisible Project will make it's debut at LACE (Los Angeles Contemporary Projects) courtesy of Narrated Objects for the L.A. Indivisble Project to debut December 9 - Save the Date!

Please save the date! I am so thrilled that 100 of the squares I have received for the Indivisible Project will debut as a 10 x 10 work on Saturday, December 9, 12 - 7pm.  The location and details will be revealed soon.  During the event, people will have an opportunity to create their own work for this project.  Stay tuned!
